Lettre de candidature

Monsieur La... S

Good morning everyone, I am a french national who has travelled extensively and had the chance to work in the UK for fifteen years. Thanks to these past experiences, I have developed a great command of the english language and can pretend to use it professionally as a translator.

Some thinkers stated that " travelling broadens the mind".I, for one, tend to agree with that statement. When I take stock of my actual situation in the world,I may be unemployed and struggling a bit to make benefit french employers of my language skills but I do not despair and trust my own judgements regarding those who solely rely on professionnal experience and diplomas to recruit someone.Where is the time gone when people could, humanely accept, that to gain experience one has to try first to see he has got (or not) what it takes to succeed? This is why today, I have decided to apply for a translating activity knowing that if one pored over my CV he might think "is this guy serious or what?" "he wants to work as a translator but has not got either a degree or a significative experience"!!. To that I reply that "Yes, I have studied English for as many years as any graduates and that my actual linguistic skills have been gained while working and living with people using English. I had no other choice and was willing to learn and improve each step of the way". "I have swapped my culture and lifestyle for another and , I do not think that any diploma would grant that to anyone ( unless he/she makes the effort to do the same for at least a while)"All this ranting, to make you see that based on my CV, I may not be the "right guy" but if you took a closer look at my personal involvement in teaching english as well as using the language as a night auditor, you could realize that I posess a wide linguistic knowledge of that language, so perhaps it is worth giving the guy a chance after all!!"
